2013: New Musical Adventure

It's only the first week of January and 2013 is already shaping up to be another dynamic year for Joe Bonamassa. The blues rock titan recently announced a new musical adventure with Rock Candy Funk Party (RCFP), a group of Los Angeles-based session musicians who formed a band to make music for "the fun of it."

Their sound: classic 70s and 80s funk and jazz. And for those familiar with Bonamassa know this is a huge divergence in guitar style. He said, "I get to play my home stuff."

RCFP comprise Tal Bergman on drums, Ron DeJesus and Joe Bonamassa on guitar, Mike Merritt on bass, Renato Neto on keyboards. At this moment, it is unclear to me who sings.

Also fitting to the genre is the title of their first collaboration: We Want O Groove. The band will distribute the first 200 copies of the CD to those attending the two-night CD release party scheduled for January 23 and 24, 2013 at the infamous The Baked Potato in California.
