In one of the most challenging and tragic years ever lived by humanity, Bluebird Reviews is still here trying to support Art in the best way possible, especially for what concerns music artists, who have been sadly deprived of their livelihood by this ongoing pandemic.
Still, despite the fact that there has been virtually no space for live performances whatsoever for the totality of the music industry in 2020, our website would like to keep on rewarding this year too those artists that have expressed some of their best work, in our personal opinion, under form of a studio or live album.
The Bluebird Reviews Awards for 2020, at least for this year, will therefore be assigned only to the Artist Of The Year and, as per our tradition, to an artist/band whose artistic contribution has made a significant dent in the history of contemporary music, the Bluebird Reviews Career Award.
So, with no further ado, here is the shortlist for the 2020 Bluebird Reviews Artist Of The Year Award; the winner will be chosen, this year, by our website’s committee and will be announced in the next fortnight:
2020 Bluebird Reviews Award for Artist Of the Year’s shortlist:
- Naoko Sakata – Japan/Sweden (Classic/improvisational)
- Stray Cats - USA (Rock/BeBop/Rockabilly)
- Fabrizio Poggi – Italy (Blues/Traditional)
Our website has decided to award with the 2020 Career Award one of the most influential music artists of the last half a century, who has heavily contributed to the growth of contemporary Blues/Rock, the one and only John Mayall. Many congratulations to Mr. Mayall for the Award and, most importantly, for his outstanding contribution to the development of Blues/Rock in the last 50-plus years.
