The artistic parabole of the highly gifted British Troubadour, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jack Garratt is a very interesting and, by the same token, slightly complicated one too.
Immediately recognised as one of the most talented and promising young newcomers by the British music industry and press, on the back of Garratt’s 2016 debut album called Phase, a record that rewarded Jack Garratt's brilliant and inspired body of work with the BRITS Choice Award, the British artist found himself, in later years, in a personal struggle with pressure coming from all the accolades received in previous years, pressure that resulted, presumably, in what many may call "The writer block" for Jack Garratt and his music.
Fortunately though, as often happens in the music industry, those types of setbacks can be defeated with the most organic medicine, for a music artist, which is getting back to life performances, something that allowed, in Garratt’s case, to get reacquainted with his many fans and, in a way, with himself too, leaving all his artistic and personal demons behind.
For those few not yet familiar with Jack Garratt’s music, there will be no better way to get to know this remarkable music artist in depth than listening to his brand new release, the first live album of Jack Garratt’s career, called At PizzaExpress Live In London.
Garratt’s singing style is utterly unique and amazing, with the artist letting the layers of Jazz, Electronica and R&B music styles following his songs' lyrics and the metrics and not viceversa.
The British artist's live performance allows the listener to appreciate each and every talent of Jack Garratt; from his excellent guitar playing skills to Garratt’s songwriting, intimate, some times heartbreaking and other times uplifting but always delivered with extraordinary sincerity by the singer/songwriter.
And then there is Garratt’s voice; deep, passionate, powerful and extraordinarily eclectic, able to switch from Falsettos to more higher tones in the blink of an eye, always maintaining superb control of his vocal chords.
Each of the 12 songs included in At PizzaExpress Live In London are a formative journey into the personality and charisma of Jack Garratt, from Mara to Time, or from Breathe to Surprise Yourself, all delivered with heartfelt and passion by this superb artist.
PizzaExpress Live In London marks one of the most gratifying "Welcome Back" musical moments in 2024, by one of the most precious and highly valuable hidden gems of the British music scene. Jack Garratt at his very best.
