It is very refreshing to notice that European artists still provide, in a time of the world when sometimes music can be felt a bit flat and repetitive, so much vital sonic oxygenation and creativity in every field to the art of music.
Italy is one of those many countries in Europe that particularly keeps on delivering consistently a range of artists that excel on marrying lyrical brushes of geniality with visionary and instinctive musical arrangements with fabulous results, as our website has often discovered when reviewing bodies of work of Italian artists.
One in particular, Danilo Pieroni a.k.a. Cronauer, a singer-songwriter that Bluebird Reviews had the pleasure to review in the past, when he was part of a collective called Bludeepa in 2022, has just released his debut album called Life Stems Out Of Death, a record that has very much captured the interest of our website for the way Cronauer was able to transform his personal, contemporary poetry at times obscure and slightly nihilistic, some other time more uplifting and hopeful, in proper songs, where the arrangement of each of the 9 tracks included in the album would dress aptly all Cronauer's new tunes in the style they deserve.
Co-produced and arranged with one of the most respected Italian artists and producers in the world, Saro Cosentino, Cronauer's Life Stems Out Of Death is a very inspired musical and lyrical deep reflection on the themes of loss, decadence of society on many layers, freedom of choice and hope for a better world, in an album written and sang with immediacy and passion, without thinking excessively about the need of rhyming in each song, but focusing instead on delivering the message contained in every song efficiently and with total honesty without altering the core of Cronauer's songwriting.
Cronauer's vocal delivery is constantly warm on every passage of the record, which contains songs written both in Italian and in English.
Supported musically in studio by Cosentino playing a multitude of instruments and by Bludeepa ex band members, Life Stems Out Of Death catapults the listeners in a musical mash-up that contains layers of Industrial Rock, World Music, Synth-Rock and even Trip-Hop, serving the 9 songs included in the album some times in a discreet form, other times in a more raucous one instead, with unexpected sonic changes of direction but always in coherent fashion, adhering perfectly to any type of message Cronauer intends to carry within the lyrics of his songs.
Imaginative, elegant, refined and unpredictable at the same time, Life Stems Out Of Death is the opening chapter of the musical journey of an artist like Cronauer that will, most certainly, keep on giving great quality records like this for many years to come. In the meantime, let's all enjoy this highly inspired debut.
