Although it may sound like a past-due cliché thing to say and contrary to popular belief, in these days and age, Music carries still that strength and power strong enough to create a semblance of unity, within the disconnected society we are living in.

A perfect example of the aforementioned statement comes from pianist, singer/songwriter and composer Macha Gharibian, somebody able to create, through Gharibian's brand new album called Phenomenal Women, not only a sonic bridge between cultures and countries (the artist sings in 5 different languages, English, French, Portuguese, Armenian and Arabic) but also to spread a strong feminist shout about abuses, sexism and inequality that women around the world have to live on their own skin every day.

Phenomenal Women is an album that, among the many values embedded in the 13 tracks included in the album, it also offers a breathtaking and refreshing window to the world of an artist like Gharibian who, with her fourth new album, unveils a remarkable amount of talent that walks side by side with the singer/songwriter's artistic sensitivity.

Gifted with a suave and extraordinarily melodious singing voice, the Paris-based artist reveals also excellent qualities as a composer and a pianist, dressing some of the new songs with a distinctive Jazz vibe, a style that perfectly enhances Gharibian vocals, whilst exploring also more Folk sonic territories, as Gharibian so wonderfully does in an Armenian traditional tune called Nare Nare, with rather excellent results.

Macha Gharibian, who took inspiration to call her new album Phenomenal Women from a poem of the American Poet Maya Angelou, as a songwriter pens also some of her best material to date, in our website opinion, especially in songs like the album's opener You Love Her, or songs like Survoler La Lune (.. I plunge into insomnia, I tell myself that the party is well and truly over...) and Petite Zibeline (... cry no more at night, stand up like the iris that springs up in the morning and become my accomplice..), among others.

Delicate, intense, heartwarming and superbly written and composed, Phenomenal Women is one of those rare records that manages successfully to deliver big on all its artistic aspects and celebrates, in all his beauty, the class, vocal elegance and enormous musicianship of an artist like Macha Gharibian. A contemporary masterclass of artistry at 360 degrees.
