There is no wonder why music can be considered as the sole art form able to translate human feelings and natural phenomenon happening around us truthfully, no matters whether said feelings or phenomenon are related to dramatic or more romantic and gentle moments.

The Italian Saxophonist and Composer  Extraordinaire Gianni Savelli knows very well how to represent, through music and his own talent and creativity, the aforementioned sensations, thanks also to the experience accumulated by the Italian artist through the many bodies of work that Savelli has been able to generate in various art-forms, throughout the last 40 years of his illustrious career.

When back in 2022 our website was privileged to review the full-length debut album of the young American pianist, drummer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Julius Rodriguez called Let Sound Tell All, we all had the distinctive feeling that the deserved accolades that Rodriguez received, back then, were just the first step in a very luminous career to come.

Time confirmed our website's gut feeling; between touring incessantly the world, bringing Rodriguez's multi-faceted musical vision that incorporates Jazz, Soul, Gospel, Ambient, Bebop and Drum'N'Bass to the masses, whilst collaborating at the same time with fellow artists like Meshell Ndegeocello or Wynton Marsalis, among others, the American artist had been working also on new compositions that would summarise accurately the way that Rodriguez sees his music vision growing, as the years go by.

Black Country Communion - V

It is a common belief, within the music industry, that those collectives called "Supergroups", which would include a cast of stellar musicians gathered together for special projects, very rarely work well together, often because of each musicians' ego and strong personality, where each of the Supergroup's members would expect to be the dominant feature on said projects in their own right, overshadowing, in this way, the quality of the finished products that get printed and released on the market.

Rather fortunately, though, this is not the case of Black Country Communion, a very special project born in 2010 which includes "The Voice Of Rock" Glenn Hughes on bass guitar and vocals, Blues/Rock Guitar Titan Joe Bonamassa on guitars and vocals, Rock Drummer Extraordinaire Jason Bonham and Prog/Rock Keyboards Maestro Derek Sherinian, which, after 4 studio albums and a live one, all overlooked by Kevin Shirley on the production room, have now released a brand new album simply called V, a record that epitomizes the idea of 4 highly skilled artists working together with the sole goal of delivering a record of remarkable depth, as V has clearly demonstrated to be.

Emiliana Torrini - Miss Flower

How many of us really get to tell the story of our lives publicly, the real stories, once we are gone? We are talking about the ones about the real ourselves, those stories that cannot see the light of the day, because they encapsulate our real essences and deep secrets, might them be filled with light or darkness, solely because society imposes us to project an image of ourselves that is not completely who we really are? The answer is "not very often", but, when that exception takes place, the outcome may be overwhelmingly beautiful and fascinating.

The latter is exactly what happened to the enormously talented Icelandic singer/songwriter Emiliana Torrini who, one day some time ago, went to visit one of her friends in UK, Zoe, to try and support her emotionally after the recent passing of Zoe's mother Geraldine. It was during this period that Torrini, who had met Geraldine Flower only at a later stage of her life, stumbled, together with Zoe, upon a box containing dozens of previously unseen and unread letters, where new and unknown aspects of Geraldine's life emerged, like the fact that Geraldine had received nine marriage proposals throughout her life (never accepted) and among the letters of many male admirers, there were quite a few about a mysterious man called Reggie, with whom Geraldine started an intense correspondence where love was often the subject of those letters while, some other time, there were some more cryptic letters that would possibly indicate that Reggie, the mysterious man, could also have worked as a spy, back in the 70's.

Success is not always built in a day, just like the city of Rome, as an old saying would state, for many music artists.

The stairway to success and notoriety can be, at times, very strenuous to achieve, especially in some music genres, like the Blues or the Blues/Rock, for example, genres that sadly don't get a lot of airplay on radio stations or any other media, in the times we are living in.
